ARGININE
Arginine is an amino acid that plays a key role in a number of cellular functions, such as muscle growth, fat reduction, liver detoxification and improvement of the immune system. It is considered an essential amino acid during childhood, although its contribution through diet or supplement during adulthood brings benefits to our body, such as: aid in the healing processes and regeneration of damaged tissues, reduces blood pressure and helps the kidneys in the excretion of waste products of metabolism.
It is the main precursor of the powerful nitric acid neurotransmitter that helps relax the blood capillaries, so that increased arginine improves blood flow in the arteries, which directly affects the heart, improving its response. That's why it has become one of the favorite supplements of bodybuilders, increasing blood flow to the muscles.
Other benefits:
- Fight against erectile dysfunction: it improves blood flow more optimally to the periphery.
- It improves the immune response: it can reduce the risk of possible injuries related to intense training, which tend to weaken our defenses and make us more vulnerable to any external agent; It also contributes to the recovery process after an intense sports session.
- Inhibits gastric acidity
- Strengthens hair and reduces its fall: nitric oxide is responsible for producing these benefits because it promotes blood circulation of the scalp, opening the channels of potassium, which will stimulate from the root, hair growth.
Foods that contain arginine include wheat, nuts, raisins, soy, grapes, and chocolate. It is also present in foods of marine origin such as crabs, mollusks and some fish or vegetables such as spinach and watercress. Pork, mutton or veal meats have varying amounts of this amino acid.
Arginine can be ingested during the day with different foods in order to increase and maintain blood plasma levels. We can also focus doses at two important times, especially to improve sports performance, as well as promoting nighttime recovery. Although no serious side effects have been reported, nausea, diarrhea, and weakness have been reported in association with overdosage. Arginine may also raise blood sugar levels and should not be used by people taking prescription drugs to control blood sugar levels. Whenever you are on medication, it is advisable to consult the doctor before adding any supplement to our diet.
